Rafting the Best Rivers in Massachusetts

When you come rafting on the best rafting in Massachusetts with Zoar Outdoor you choose the thrill level, the season and the duration. Most rafting in Massachusetts is centered around the great Deerfield River base in Charlemont. The exception is the Concord River trip in the springtime, which is based in Lowell, Massachusetts only a half hour from Boston. Charlemont is in the heart of the Deerfield River valley.

From our base, we raft some of New England’s best whitewater rivers including three sections of Massachusetts’ Deerfield River and the Millers River which runs from Erving, Massachusetts to the Connecticut River’s French King Gorge.

Some of Massachusetts’ best rapids are created as the river twists its way out of Vermont into the Berkshires. From April to October, Deerfield River rafters can enjoy mellow, family-friendly float trips, beginner-intermediate adventures on Zoar Gap or the aggressive whitewater of the Monroe Bridge Dryway.

Millers River rafting trips run in the spring when snowmelt and rain turn this western Massachusetts gem into a rollicking section of whitewater. At the Funnel rapid, you’ll find exciting Class III+ rapids sure to get your heart thumping. Large waves and holes make it the best natural rollercoaster ride in the state of MA. If you can manage to take your eyes off the water, there are often birds and wildlife as well as historic mill sites to see you as you paddle along.
