Chill – These trips offer a mellow outdoor experience with a minimal (but not non-existent) chance of falling out of the boat. They require a basic level of fitness.
Looking to Explore – These trips have some exciting parts and some more laid back parts. They require a moderate level of fitness.
Epic – These are our most exciting trips.
They require a higher level of fitness and carry a higher chance of falling out of the boat in challenging rapids.
Fly through the trees and enjoy the water on this great one-day adventure package. Your day will start in the morning with a three-hour Zipline Canopy Tour followed by a homemade lunch provided by Zoar. In the afternoon you’ll kayak on Class I and II rapids down the Deerfield River. Our guides will help you become familiar with the gear and techniques, and they’ll be there throughout the trip to provide help and guidance as needed.
Start your morning with a three-hour tour through the trees. At each platform you’ll experience the local flora and fauna and view the forest with a new perspective. The trip includes 11 zips, two sky bridges, and 3 rappels. Once your zip trip is complete, it’s lunch time! Our kitchen will provide you homemade lunch to be enjoyed on one of the many picnic tables here on our campus. Zip & Kayak guests receive 10% off their zip photos.
Paddle a five mile stretch of up to class II whitewater. While you don’t need extensive previous paddling experience, you should have some canoeing or kayaking experience, or be gung ho, in good physical shape and comfortable in the water. You will have to paddle and may have to self rescue by climbing back up onto the kayak from the water or swimming the kayak, the paddle and yourself to shore. Halfway through the trip, we’ll pull over on shore to have a light snack and water.
Please try to be on time, since we must work within the schedule of water releases decided on by the power company. You will be required to read and sign a release of liability at this time. All guests will be required to wear a Zoar Outdoor issued PFD (Personal Flotation Device) and helmet. You will also be provided with a paddle. Trips take place on the Fife Brook section of the Deerfield River in Northwestern Massachusetts.
