Trip Info

Along the west side of Harriman Reservoir, the this trip follows an old railroad bed with views of the reservoir and the surrounding mountains.  Built in 1923 to supply the power needs of the New England region, the reservoir spans 2200 acres and is the largest body of water entirely within the state of Vermont!

This 5 hour trip takes us along the 10-mile trail with opportunities to stop at various points and hike some of the short side trails down to the water. We start our trip at the southern end of the reservoir, with views of the Harriman Dam and the Glory Hole, a unique overflow structure that's said to look like a morning glory when water is spilling over it.  We share a picnic lunch on the reservoir during our ride back north to Wilmington. This is a great way to see one of Vermont's gems, while enjoying a day with family and friends.

This trip meets at our Zoar Adventure Center in Wilmington, VT.
