Tariffville Slalom Race

The Friday before the race, which was on Sunday, I play boated a little in the hole and then helped to set up the course. I was a little too excited for June and decided to paddle without any sort of rash guard or bug spray, and just in my bathing suit. The entire mosquito population also decided to reemerge for the summer and they all attacked me. So my first piece of advice for your paddling this summer: always bring bug spray.

Dryway Kickoff Weekend

Day 2

First Dryway Release = First Lozer Cup Series Race. Oh how I miss my New England paddling friends. The race goes off and I immediately spin my cohort Ben Natusch sideways to the oncoming crowd (shenanigans). Pretty much insuring we will both be losers which I think is the goal.

Staff Training At Zoar Outdoor

With spring approaching and thoughts starting to switch to paddling, it becomes time to think about the summer at Zoar Outdoor.  Every year during the last weekend in March, the majority of Zoar Outdoor’s staff returns to the area for Returning Staff Training.  Each year, this weekend is an opportunity for staff to reconnect, shake off the rust, get some time on the water and hopefully learn some new tricks and skills.

A Great Season Paddling

2013 End of Season Reflection

It has been a pretty exciting season for me.  I had the opportunity to work with Katelyn, who was interning at Zoar and watch her develop as a paddler and as an instructor.  It was really exciting to watch her challenge herself and step up her boating in a big way.
