Zoar Outdoor Helps Create New Adventure Reality TV Show
by Blair Winans
Charlemont, MA, - This past fall Zoar Outdoor was involved with the filming of a new adventure reality TV show - Subaru of New England's "Roughing It" premiering Nov. 3 at 9 p.m. on New England Sports Network (http://www.boston.com/sports/nesn/programming/shows/roughing_it/).
Zoar Outdoor staff planned and executed the challenges for three of the NESN shows. Zoar provided all technical equipment, food, transportation, site logistics and staff expertise. "It was a blast to work with the film crew, producers and the talent. Bill Lee, former Red Sox pitcher was my favorite star. He was a really nice guy and funny too! ", recalls Kevin McMillan, Director of Rafting, who was the lead Zoar staff member organizing the races.
The 1-hour series pitches comedians against athletes in tongue & cheek outdoor races including a whitewater rafting scavenger hunt, a tyrolean traverse above class 4 rapids and a timed rock climb up an 80-foot cliff. After racing all day, tired competitors set up camp in the woods, cooked over an open flame and finally relaxed with plenty of beer beside the campfire to share sports stories and jokes.
Hosted by the Mad Fisherman Charlie Moore (www.charliemoore.com), episodes include local sports legends Steve Grogan, Lyndon Byers, Bill Lee and Chris Nilan, along with comedians Mike McDonald, Frank Santorelli and Kenny Rogerson.
