For Immediate Release

Charlemont, June 25, 2008 — On Saturday, July 12, Tad Blackmore will
show “Backyard Backcountry”, a video that documents backcountry skiing
in the Deerfield River Watershed from southern Vermont down through the
western Franklin County region. The presentation will start at 6:30 pm
in the Zoar Outdoor Pavilion.

Tad Blackmore, originally from the Boston area, has been living
in western Franklin County for the past 9 years. He started skiing,
hiking and camping as a boy at the age of 10. Since 1989 he has been
backcountry skiing. This little-known sport combines skiing, hiking
and camping. His skiing adventures have taken him to the mountains of
New York, Oregon, Utah, Vermont and Quebec.

His recent backcountry adventures have involved skiing out his back
door in Heath and heading north into southern Vermont. Blackmore has
the uncanny ability to find the last patches of skiable snow in the
region. “Snow stays longer on the shaded northern faces of the slopes
and this year we skied almost into May”, states Blackmore”.
Blackmore has worked at Berkshire East Ski Resort in Charlemont, as a
forester, and as a substitute teacher. He is currently doing
landscaping and tree work. He is also a guitar singer/song writer and
is currently working on a music CD. His skiing video will feature some
of his original guitar songs”.

This program is free and open to the public. A simple summer barbecue
starts at 5:30 pm for $7.50 per person. “Backyard Backcountry” will
begin at 6:30 pm at the Zoar Outdoor Pavilion. For more information,
contact Zoar Outdoor at 800-532-7483 or www.zoaroutdoor.com. Zoar
