Making Reservations

Deposit Amounts

  • Reservations made more than 45 days in advance of the trip date require a 50% deposit.  The balance is due 45 days prior to the trip.  Nonpayment of balance by 45 days may result in forfeiture of deposit and cancelled reservations.
  • Reservations made 45 days or less in advance of the trip date require payment in full.
  • When paying by check or money order, the appropriate deposit must be received within 10 days of booking a trip.

If you cancel –

  • More than 30 days in advance of your trip date, we retain a $10 per person cancellation fee.
  • 30 days or less in advance of your trip date, you forfeit the entire cost of your trip.
  • Money forfeited may not be applied to any outstanding balances.

Transferring Reservations –

All reservations are transferable to another person, but not another date.  Transferring to another date is the same as cancelling.

Lodging/Camping Cancellation Policy - 

For cancellations made up to 14 days in advance of your stay, Zoar Outdoor retains a 25% cancellation fee.

14 days or less in advance of your stay, you forfeit the entire cost of your lodging/camping unless you have cancellation insurance.

Cancellation Insurance

Cancellation Insurance allows you to cancel up to 24 hours before a trip or a lodging/camping stay and receive a full refund or transfer your reservation to another date.  Cancellation insurance must be purchased at the time that an initial reservation is made and must be taken by all members of a group.  No-shows on the date of the trip or last-minute cancellations are not covered by cancellation insurance. 

Clinic Underenrollment

To go at the prices listed, we must have at least 2 students enrolled in a scheduled clinic within 3 days of the clinic’s start date.  If only one person is enrolled in a clinic, he or she may pay the private rate or may choose to cancel or reschedule.  This does not apply to custom clinics.

Canopy Tour Policies

Because zipping is a gravity sport, we must adhere to strict weight limits:  minimum weight: 70 lbs; maximum weight: 250 lbs.  We reserve the option to weigh guests when they arrive to determine eligibility for the canopy tour. Canopy tours leave on a regular schedule, so if you are late you will not be able to join your tour and you will not receive a refund.  If, after registering for your tour, you decide not to participate due to fear, we will give you a raincheck. This raincheck will be good for you only, for use one time, within the current season. We encourage you to try again.

Taxes and Fees

Tax will be added to rental and lodging reservations as required by state law.  A processing fee of 2% is added to all reservations to support our continued investment in a state-of-the-art reservation system that allows us to enhance our guests' experiences.

The Risks

While we have an excellent record, the sports of whitewater rafting, zip line canopy tours, canoeing, kayaking and rock climbing have inherent risks; accidents can and do occur.  For this reason, we cannot assume responsibility for injury or loss of property.  Participants in all activities will be required to sign a waiver stating that they are aware of the risks involved and are not under the influence of drugs or alcohol.  Pregnant women are prohibited from participation in Zoar Outdoor activities.  Those with health problems limiting their normal activities may be prohibited from participation at Zoar Outdoor’s discretion.

Supervision of Minors

Zoar Outdoor can not be responsible for supervision of minors when they are not actively participating in our programs.  At all time, supervision of minors is the responsibility of the group leaders, parents or guardians.  

Food Allergies and Special Diets

The following statement is required by state law: "Before placing your order, please inform your server if a person in your party has a food allergy."

We do not use nuts in our food, but can not guarantee that the ingredients in our meals do not contain nuts or other food allergens. If you have food allergies or other special dietary needs, we strongly suggest you bring your own bag lunch in non-glass containers and we will pack it with the other lunches on your trip. Alcohol and Drug Policy

The use of recreational drugs or alcohol is prohibited on all trips.  If you arrive at Zoar Outdoor under the influence, you will be prohibited from participating in the day’s activity and no refund will be given.

Inclement Weather/High Water

River Trips (Rafting, Kayaking, Canoeing):

Zoar Outdoor river trips go regardless of the weather with the exception of weather or water conditions deemed dangerous by Zoar Outdoor.  Any decision to cancel, move or postpone a trip will be made the morning of the trip at Zoar Outdoor.  We reserve the right to move a trip to another location or river section at our discretion.  In the event we must cancel a trip for any reason, you will receive a full refund.

Zip Line

We zip rain or shine. The two weather conditions that cause us to cancel tours are excessive wind and lightning. In any case you should show up for your tour. Due to the unreliability of weather forecasts we do not cancel until just before a tour if we need to cancel. In the event of cancellation prior to your trip we will try to get you on another tour the same day or you have the option to refund or reschedule.  If your trip is cancelled while you are on the course, you will receive a pro-rated refund or credit based on the location where you evacuated the course. 

Rock Climbing 

Rock climbing clinics go out in moderate rain; be prepared for wet weather. Please bring extra layers of synthetic or wool clothing. Cotton clothing is not appropriate for wet weather, since it does not keep you warm when it gets wet. We cancel clinics or move them indoors in the event of heavy rain. This decision will be made the morning of the clinic.  In the event of lightning during a clinic, we come down immediately and we may decide to cancel.  If we cancel your clinic, we will offer you a pro-rated refund or you may reschedule.

  • April 1 through October 15: OPEN 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week.
  • October 16 through March 31: OPEN 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
