We offer several on-site lodging options at Zoar Outdoor: Hawk Mountain Lodge is a renovated farmhouse with 5 rooms that can sleep as many as 14 people; our wilderness camping includes five tent sites and eleven cabin tents and a total capacity of seventy-six campers.
Camping at Zoar Outdoor is set in a wooded environment off the beaten track on a plateau 60 feet above western Massachusetts' Deerfield River Valley floor. Surrounded by 80 acres of wilderness hiking trails, it is not uncommon to see deer, hawks and owls or even an occasional bear in the area.
Our bathhouse offers modern conveniences such as coin-operated hot showers and flush toilets. Your car is never more than a few hundred feet away.
About campfires - because of the lack of vehicle access to our campsite, we can not allow camp fires at individual sites. Cooking fires that are contained within a hibachi or other grill are permitted. We have a group fire area behind Hawk Mountain Lodge that is available upon arrangement with our lodging manager. We will provide the wood for these fires.
Please Note: We can not allow you to bring your own wood due to the risk of importing invasive insects or diseases. Tree-killing insects and diseases can lurk in firewood. These insects and diseases can't move far on their own, but when people move firewood they can jump hundreds of miles. New infestations destroy our forests, property values, and cost huge sums of money to control. For more information, check out http://www.dontmovefirewood.org/
Our camping is located a few hundred yards off Route 2 and across the river from a rail line. Train and vehicle traffic varies greatly from day to day, but some campers prefer to use ear plugs on busier nights.
Our Alcohol Policy - While we allow the responsible use of alcohol in our campground, we do not tolerate heavy drinking or the behaviors that go with it. If you are not able to adhere to this policy you will be asked to leave and you will forfeit any payments you have made for that night or for future nights’ stay.
Our Hawk Mountain Lodge offers year-round accommodations in five rooms with private or shared bathrooms. You can rent out the whole building for a private group stay, or book individual rooms for your vacation. Just moments from dining in Charlemont as well as from downtown Shelburne Falls, the Hawk Mountain Lodge provides comfortable, central lodging, perfect for your outdoor adventure get-away.
