16TH ANNUAL ZOAR OUTDOOR FILM FESTIVAL
MAY-SEPTEMBER 2007
Zoar Outdoor will be offering our 16th annual summer film series hosted at the Zoar Pavilion on Saturday evenings throughout the summer of 2007. These programs are free and open to the public. The series features prominent outdoor enthusiasts who have documented their adventures on film as a way to share their passion with the local community.
A simple summer barbecue starts at 5:00 pm for $7.50/person and shows begin at 6:30 pm at the Zoar Outdoor Pavilion.
2007 FILM SCHEDULE
- June 30th - What’s so Wild about Wild & Scenic? What a 40th Anniversary Means for Your Kids
Presented by Risa Shimoda of the Shimoda Group together with Tom Christopher of New England FLOW and Matthew Cole of Transcanada. This presentation will also talk about the Deerfield River.
Shimoda, former Executive Director of American Whitewater, has been an avid whitewater paddler for over 25 years, and as a member of the Whitewater Freestyle Team has represented the US in four World Freestyle Championships (1993-2001). She has also directed marketing, sales and product development for Perception, Inc., the world's largest kayak manufacturer.
- July 7th - Fishing in Patagonia
Dan and Tom Harrison of Harrison Anglers, a local fishing guide service, will give a slide presentation on fishing in southern Chile. The Harrisons have been guiding fishermen in Massachusetts and Montana, but spend their winters on the lakes and rivers of Chile’s Patagonia region.
- August 11th - Training for Performance Cycling
Jay Gump, founder of Incline Training and coach for several national cycling teams will talk about the physical demands of road racing, mountain biking, and hill climbs using some stories and training recommendations. Gump has an extensive research background in Biophysics and Physiology and has combined this with his years of experience racing and coaching top level cyclists.
- August 25th - The Grand Canyon, 6 trips of a Lifetime
This presentation will feature photos by Larry Lorusso of Cytafex Photography. In 1985 Lorusso started Cytafex Studio (pronounced "sight affects") to produce still photographs for advertising. More recently he has been working on producing his own work in nature and landscape photography, some of which has been reproduced in numerous publications over the years, including the Sierra Club's Wilderness Trails Calendars.
