Family Vacations & Rafting in New England
Zoar Outdoor offers you the best in active family vacations and New England rafting for beginners with our Class I-III family rafting trips in Massachusetts on the Deerfield River.
FAMILY FLOAT TRIPS – For Beginners
This half-day guided float trip for rafters as young as 5 years old is ideal for families who wish to sample rafting for the first time. Our guides love taking families downriver! They will keep you laughing as you float past scenic farmland among the rolling Berkshire foothills along the Mohawk Trail.
When we stop along the way for a light riverside dinner, your guides will continue entertaining your family with fun facts about the natural and cultural history of this historic area. With opportunities to swim and splash in the waters of the Deerfield, this trip provides a wonderful afternoon adventure for families of all shapes and sizes!
ZOAR GAP – For Beginner and Intermediate Rafters
Take your family rafting on the Deerfield River's Zoar Gap. With a minimum age of 7, the Class II and III rapids on our most popular trip are ideal for rafters looking for a slightly more exciting family paddle.
Our ten-mile trip begins at Fife Brook Dam. Rapids such as Microwave, Freight Train, and Pinball allow family crews to hone their skills in preparation for the raging whitewater of Zoar Gap. We lunch riverside in a state forest with a delicious picnic including salads, homemade breads and cookies. After lunch there are opportunities to swim or simply relax as we raft back to our basecamp where hot showers and a slide show of the day's adventure await.
