During our run everyone was having fun and trying new things. Unfortunately trying new things sometimes leads to some unexpected swims. When Janet tried to punch through rodeo hole in Dragon’s Tooth, she learned a few new rodeo tricks...
The Friday before the race, which was on Sunday, I play boated a little in the hole and then helped to set up the course. I was a little too excited for June and decided to paddle without any sort of rash guard or bug spray, and just in my bathing suit. The entire mosquito population also decided to reemerge for the summer and they all attacked me. So my first piece of advice for your paddling this summer: always bring bug spray.
First Dryway Release = First Lozer Cup Series Race. Oh how I miss my New England paddling friends. The race goes off and I immediately spin my cohort Ben Natusch sideways to the oncoming crowd (shenanigans). Pretty much insuring we will both be losers which I think is the goal.
With spring approaching and thoughts starting to switch to paddling, it becomes time to think about the summer at Zoar Outdoor. Every year during the last weekend in March, the majority of Zoar Outdoor’s staff returns to the area for Returning Staff Training. Each year, this weekend is an opportunity for staff to reconnect, shake off the rust, get some time on the water and hopefully learn some new tricks and skills.
Hi folks, I’ve had a great season at Zoar Outdoor and wanted to share a little video recap of my summer. I’ve also shared this with Jackson Kayak as part of their regional team. I hope you all have a great winter as once again I head out to Montana to go ski more epic powder.

Every year, for one day, we get to one of Vermont’s hidden gems - the West River. The West River is a perfect mix of adventure and leisure - it has a little bit more adventure than the Zoar Gap and is a little mellower than the Dryway.
