18TH ANNUAL ZOAR OUTDOOR FILM FESTIVAL

Zoar Outdoor will be offering our 18th annual summer film series hosted at the Zoar Pavilion on Saturday evenings throughout the summer of 2009. These programs are free and open to the public. The series features prominent outdoor enthusiasts who have documented their adventures on film as a way to share their passion with the local community.

A simple summer barbecue starts at 5:00 pm for $8.50/person and shows begin at 6:30 pm at the Zoar Outdoor Pavilion.           

 

2009 FILM SCHEDULE

  • Sat. June 26th,  as part of our DemoFest weekend, local videographer and kayaker, Tino Specht will present his latest DVD “Facing East” featuring his kayaking travels in China.

  • Sat. July 11th, filmmaker from southern Vermont, Joe DeFelice shows his documentary entitled “The Deerfield River: A Working River". The film cronicles all aspects of the river - natural history, human history, and technological history.

  • Sat. August 15th – with Mark Chanski, a volunteer chosen to participate in "Cold Water Boot Camp", a public service video created by the National Water Safety Congress and the US Coast Guard. This video demonstrates the dangers of cold water and the importance of wearing life jackets.

  • Sat. Sept. 12th - Mike Mather, ACA Advnaced Swiftwater Rescue Instructor Trainer will present footage on river rescue situation followed by a Q & A session. This is ideal for beginner to advanced paddlers who fequent local rivers and need to know how to respond in emergency situations.

  • Sat. Oct 3rd - Kent Ford, founder of Performance Video will show his latest paddling DVD- "The Call of the River", featuring vintage canoeing and kayaking footage, in-depth interviews with eclectic pioneers and captivating narrative. This documentary takes a behind-the-scenes look at what inspires paddlers to answer the call of the river spanning the sport's 80-year history.
